As stated by the creators of Dyson Sphere Program:
"A 'real-world' Dyson Sphere would be 200 times the diameter of the Sun (which in turn is 100 times that of the Earth). Suppose we make one solar cell to be one square kilometer big. To build a Dyson Sphere, we will need 125,663,600,000,000,000 (125.6 quadrillion) units -- which was obviously impossible to implement and, what's equally important, wouldn't be fun at all."
Because of the vastness and emptiness of real space, Dyson Sphere Program implements smaller than real world units for distance. As stated in Dev Log 3, the units and scales are as follows:
- 1 D (Planet Diameter) is defined as 400m
- 1 R (Star Radius) is defined as 4D or 1,600m
- 1 AU (Astronomical Unit) is defined as 25R or 40,000m
- 1 LY (Light-Year) is defined as 60AU or 2,400,000m
