"It is a critical state photon that can be converted into Antimatter and hydrogen under the effect of a super magnetic field."

Overview[]

The Critical Photon is a late game resource that is generated within the Ray Receiver. Its primary use is to produce Universe Matrixes in order to beat the game. It can also be processed into Antimatter Fuel Rods an endgame fuel.

Usage[]

Once Dirac Inversion Mechanism is researched, Ray Receivers gain the option to produce Critical Photons rather than supplying power to the grid. Each photon uses 1.2 GJ of energy to produce. The rate of production depends on power output of the Ray Receiver.

A Ray Receiver set to produce photons has a 5x multiplier to its output rate. For example, if a receiver was supplying 5MW to the grid while consuming 8MW of power from the Dyson Sphere, then it will generate photons at a rate of 25M while consuming 40MW from the Dyson Sphere. Ray Receivers otherwise function exactly the same in either mode; see the Ray Receiver page for details.

Note that the output of all receivers is decreased when the Dyson Sphere cannot keep up with the total power requested by active Ray Receivers. When overloaded available power is distributed "per MW" and not "per receiver", so photon production can easily "starve" receivers supplying grid power. For example, suppose there are ten 5MW receivers supplying grid power, each consuming 8MW (or 80MW total) from a 90MW sphere. Now add a receiver set to produce photons. Assuming equivalent properties, it has a nominal output of 25MW and consumes 40MW - but this brings the total requested power to 120MW, which is more than the 90MW Dyson Sphere can supply! All receivers are thus scaled back to 75%, cutting grid power by a quarter. In summary, be sure to have ample power from your sphere/swarm before scaling up photon production.
